What's the endgame? The financing reorders the group's debt and strengthens its balance sheet to execute a strategic plan aimed at professionalising the company and improving operational efficiency. It also releases mortgage guarantees tied to a significant number of the company's assets.
Where's the money going? Catalonia is channelling fresh liquidity into two international projects: resorts in Zanzíbar, Tanzania, and in Jamaica. The group currently runs 82 hotels and resorts with more than 12,000 rooms across 25 destinations, spanning Spanish and European cities and the Caribbean.
By the numbers: Catalonia closed 2025 with more than €630 million in revenue and €189 million in EBITDA, both records for the company. It aims to top €200 million in EBITDA this year.
Why now? The group said its sustained growth, above-average profitability, and the strength of its plan were decisive in winning the banks' backing. "This agreement reinforces the group's financial structure and gives us a solid position to keep executing our ambitious growth plan," said Félix Navas, corporate general manager.
Interpath acted as sole financial adviser on the deal, with Broseta Abogados as legal adviser.
The signal: A syndicated debt package from four of Spain's largest banks signals lender confidence in hotel operators as the sector's post-pandemic recovery matures, and it underlines how established chains are using cheaper financing to expand beyond Europe into higher-margin leisure markets.
