pQCee raises $3.9M seed to sell quantum-safe encryption across Asia

What's the deal? Singapore-based cybersecurity startup pQCeeDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has raised $3.9 million in a seed round co-led by SGInnovateDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and Lotus One Investment. In Group Holdings, Wavemaker Ventures, SUTD Venture Holdings, and Apsara Investments also took part.

What does it do? pQCee sells post-quantum cryptography and key-management tools. These protect sensitive data against the risk that encrypted information stolen today could be decrypted later, once quantum computers grow powerful enough — a threat known as "harvest now, decrypt later."

By the numbers: The raise lands in the top 10% of all seed rounds recorded in Singapore. It follows a $2.8 million institutional raise in 2022, co-led by Wavemaker Ventures and SEEDS.

What's the money for? pQCee said it will expand its Singapore team, deepen its presence in Asia, and enter the US, European, and Middle Eastern markets. Its flagship product, SafeQuard, offers end-to-end encryption; QKDLite handles key management to standards including FIPS 203.

Why now? In August 2024, the US National Institute of Standards and Technology finalised its first three post-quantum cryptography standards. That gave enterprises and vendors a clearer technical baseline after years of uncertainty, turning research discussions into procurement plans.

What could go wrong? The transition is likely to be slow. Cryptography is embedded across applications, networks, identity systems, and payment infrastructure, and many large organisations have barely begun mapping where vulnerable code sits. For banks and public-sector agencies, the task means replacing legacy systems without breaking operations.

What they're saying: Chief executive officer Teik Guan Tan said the company is focusing on practical deployment. Organisations need "practical" tools as "global regulations tighten and the threat landscape evolves," he said.

The signal: The round reflects rising enterprise appetite for quantum-safe security. MarketsandMarkets estimates the global post-quantum cryptography market will grow from $302.5 million in 2024 to $1.88 billion by 2029, a compound annual growth rate of 44.2%.
