The deal, announced July 15, 2026, gives GETEC a bigger presence in Italy and marks its entry into the Iberian Peninsula.

The players: GETEC is a European provider of decarbonised energy and infrastructure solutions. Cogenio, founded in 2018 as an Infracapital joint venture, is a decentralised energy company that helps commercial and industrial customers in Southern Europe cut emissions.

What's the endgame? GETEC wants to scale decarbonisation services across Southern Europe. Cogenio adds technical expertise, regional reach, and offerings such as solar photovoltaics and heat recovery built up over Infracapital's eight-year hold.

What changes? GETEC will serve energy-intensive sectors including chemicals, life sciences, data centres, food and dairy, healthcare, real estate, automotive, and the public sector in Italy and Iberia. It says customers gain optimised energy solutions and expanded digital offerings within an integrated system.

What GETEC says: "With Cogenio, we are strengthening our position in Italy while also opening a new chapter for GETEC on the Iberian Peninsula," said chief executive officer Pierre-Alain Graf.

What could go wrong? The closing is subject to regulatory approvals in Italy. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The signal: The deal reflects continued consolidation in Europe's decentralised energy market, as larger platforms buy regional operators to build cross-border scale for industrial decarbonisation.
