NxLite closes $13.1M Series A, 42% above target, for energy-saving coatings

What's the deal? NxLite, a Michigan maker of air-stable, energy-efficient coatings for glass and polymeric substrates, has closed a $13.1 million Series A. The round oversubscribed its original $10 million target, with capital arriving over a 120-day second-close window.

Who's backing it? Crabtree Lane Alt, LLC led the round, with new investment from VoLo Earth VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. Strategic investors in the door, window, and building industries also joined.

Why now? The first close was announced in October 2025 at $9.2 million. Since then, NxLite has added capacity at its Advanced Innovation & Manufacturing Center in Canton, Michigan, and signed partnerships across multiple use cases — progress that drew existing investors in further.

Follow the money. NxLite also secured a $3.5 million debt facility from RSF Social Finance, providing non-dilutive capital for manufacturing scale-up. Its proprietary low-emissivity coatings cut energy use and weight versus conventional alternatives.

The hire. Technology supply chain leader Erin Sawyer joins the board. A venture partner at VoLo Earth Ventures, she previously ran supply chain at Wrightspeed and managed core technologies at Tesla during the Model S and Model X scale-up. "I'm joining to help compress the timeline from here," she said.

What they're saying. "We are grateful to attract the capital and the caliber of leader joining our board in what can be a difficult financial market," said David Mather, chairman and chief executive officer of NxLite. Board member Jason Blumberg of Earth Foundry called the company "a rare combination: validated technology, demonstrated manufacturing, and real customers under contract."

The signal: At $13.1 million, the round lands in the upper tier for a Series A — a sign investors are backing climate hardware that has already de-risked its manufacturing and locked in offtake before scaling.
