Try Dealroom →, a multi-chain decentralised finance (DeFi) platform, through its Miami-based US arm, LCX Liberty Labs Inc. The deal is the first acquisition for LCX Liberty, the group's American DeFi product line. Financial terms were not disclosed.

What each side brings: LCX has built digital-asset infrastructure in Europe since 2018 and is now expanding to the US with a centralised exchange and a full DeFi product line. MasterDEX, founded in 2022, spent four years building a toolkit that includes a multi-chain swap and aggregation engine, a blockchain explorer, cross-chain portfolio tracking, a token discovery platform, a perpetuals exchange, and a tokenised stock DEX on Solana.

The terms: All intellectual property, code, and technology transfer to LCX, and the full MasterDEX team joins the company. Integration begins immediately.

What's the endgame? MasterDEX technology will fold into LCX Liberty DEX, the non-custodial trading product within the Liberty line. It launches alongside LCX Liberty Wallet, LCX Liberty Chain, and further DeFi products the company plans to announce in the coming weeks.

The product angle: The Liberty platform is fully non-custodial, meaning user assets stay in their own wallets at all times. That positions it as a self-custody alternative as LCX moves into the US market.

Why now? The acquisition lets LCX skip years of in-house development. "MasterDEX brings four years of development and the team behind it, from day one," said chief executive officer Monty C. M. MetzgerDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. "This acquisition is to accelerate LCX Liberty."

The signal: LCX is betting that the US is where DeFi infrastructure gets built next, framing the move around "American DeFi." Buying rather than building signals a race to establish self-custody trading tools in a market still defining its rules.
