Var Group buys Valencia's Solver to build European AI hub

Who is Solver? Founded in 2016 as a spin-off of the Universitat Politècnica de València, it employs 26 people. Its expertise spans generative AI vertical models, machine learning, advanced analytics, demand forecasting, and computer vision for public and private clients.

Solver closed its 2025 fiscal year with revenue of roughly €1.5 million and EBITDA near €350,000.

Why now? The two firms have collaborated on joint projects for years. Var Group frames the deal as part of its international growth and a step towards creating a European centre of excellence in AI.

What's the endgame? "Solver's experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning fits perfectly with our strategy and will allow us to accelerate the development of innovative solutions," said Gorka Jiménez, regional lead of Var Group Iberia.

Victoria Corral, chief executive officer of Solver, said joining Var Group "represents a great opportunity to broaden the reach of our capabilities and accelerate our growth."

The buyer: Var Group reported revenue of €875.7 million as of April 30, 2025, with 4,243 staff across 16 countries, including Spain, Italy, Brazil, India, Mexico, and the US. It is part of Italy's Sesa Group, which posted consolidated revenue of €3,356.8 million on the same date and trades on Euronext Star Milan.
