Stirista buys Alesco Data to deepen its customer intelligence push

What each side brings: Stirista runs an identity-driven marketing platform, combining proprietary audience data with an email service provider and a demand-side platform. Alesco specialises in trusted consumer data, first-party data enhancement, and audience intelligence to help brands find and win customers.
What's the endgame? Stirista wants to move marketers past collecting data toward making sense of it. Folding in Alesco expands its analytics expertise and, the company says, creates a more complete customer intelligence offering.
"Marketing has reached a point where competitive advantage comes from how well brands understand and activate their customer data," said Ajay Gupta, chief executive officer and founder of Stirista.
What changes for customers? Existing Alesco clients keep their current service and gain access to Stirista's broader capabilities. Paul Theriot, president of Alesco, will continue leading the unit and help shape the combined company's data strategy. Further integration details are expected in the coming months.
"Joining Stirista expands what's possible for our clients by bringing those capabilities together with a powerful identity-driven marketing platform," Theriot said.
The signal: The deal reflects a wider push in ad-tech toward consolidating first-party data and identity tools as marketers face growing data volumes across more channels. Owning both the audience data and the activation layer is becoming the play for firms competing on customer intelligence.
