Angel One Fund backs Ukrainian counter-drone startup Vigilant Works

The amount was not disclosed, but the fund said it matches its average check, which founder Ivan Petrenko has put at $50,000 to $200,000.

What's the endgame? Vigilant Works makes counter-UAV interceptors. Its main product, Algiz-1, has passed combat trials, and the team is now developing Algiz-2, expected to exceed 600 km/h.

Where the money goes: The funds will support autonomy technologies, radar solutions, and scaling operations. Algiz-2 development is separately financed through grants.

Why now? This is Angel One's 14th investment in 2.5 years and its fourth in defense tech in 2026. The two sides first met at a Brave1 cluster event, where Ukrainian defense-tech firms pitch to investors and partners.

What the fund says: "Vigilant Works is turning counter-drone response from a reactive process into an autonomous system — from target detection to interception," said Petrenko, chief executive officer of Angel One Fund. He added that the team "has already passed combat testing" and is "building a product capable of scaling with the threat."

Behind the backer: Angel One Fund was created at the Ukrainian Catholic University to provide pre-seed and early-stage capital to Ukrainian founders working on deep innovations and protected intellectual property. The signal: The deal reflects growing investor appetite for Ukrainian defense tech. In March 2026, Angel One raised roughly $3 million for a second fund and plans to back 12 Ukrainian startups this year, splitting capital equally between civilian and defense projects.
