What's the deal? Hereford-based Eumar TechnologyDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired Universal Synergistic Holdings, trading as HybrisanDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Port Talbot wound care technology specialist. Terms were not disclosed. The move creates a new contract development manufacturing organisation (CDMO).

What does each side bring? Eumar contributes ISO 13485-certified manufacturing facilities and superabsorbent materials expertise. Hybrisan, founded in 2013, adds product development skills in electrospinning and antimicrobials, plus a reputation in chronic wound care.

What's the endgame? Eumar wants to build a leading UK medical device business. Chairman Euan Davidson said the goal is "creating a CDMO recognised internationally for taking innovative products from concept to commercial manufacture entirely within the UK."

Why now? Hybrisan's lead product, WoundSan, is a clinically evidenced wound cleansing technology moving through EU Medical Device Regulation approval. It is expected to reach the market later this year.

What changes? Hybrisan keeps its Port Talbot headquarters, with increased investment in its South Wales innovation hub. Eumar has pledged to invest in "skilled employment and manufacturing excellence" across Herefordshire and South Wales.

Chris Mortimer, formerly Hybrisan's chief executive and now chief technology officer, said combining the two firms "will allow us to accelerate innovative wound care solutions to market." Gambit Corporate Finance advised Hybrisan's shareholders.

The signal: The deal reflects how corporate acquirers are consolidating specialist medical device capabilities to move products from concept to commercial manufacture in-house. Sean David of Gambit called it an example of acquirers "seeking diversification, growth and competitive advantage, whilst commercialising valuable intellectual property."
