DexRobot lands hundreds of millions of yuan in Series A led by Shanghai Electric

What's the deal? DexRobotDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Chinese developer of dexterous robotic hand systems, has raised a Series A of several hundred million yuan. Shanghai Electric backed the round, announced in July 2026.

What's the endgame? The company builds multimodal tactile and visual perception systems for dexterous manipulation. Its flagship product, the DexHand021, is an industrial-grade, mass-produced five-finger hand with 19 degrees of freedom and 23 built-in sensors.

What can it do? Using cameras and wearable devices, the hand can solve a Rubik's cube one-handed, grasp multiple objects at once, and operate common tools. DexRobot lists reliability, high integration, strong compatibility, easy maintenance, and low power consumption among its features.

Why now? Shanghai Electric, a major state-linked industrial group, adds a strategic backer with manufacturing reach. That fit matters for a startup positioning its hardware for industrial-scale production.

The signal: Dexterous hands are a bottleneck for general-purpose robotics and humanoids, where fine manipulation remains hard to master. Investor interest in the component layer suggests capital is flowing toward the hardware that could make broader robotics deployment practical.
