Try Dealroom → SOC Ltd (PIC), has acquired a 49% stake in CG and Zinyana Africa Holdings (CGZAH), a South African industrial services group. Benchmark InternationalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → advised CGZAH on the transaction, announced July 14, 2026. Terms were not disclosed.

What each side does: CGZAH provides mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and welding services, plus project management and drone-based inspection, mainly for industrial and mining clients. Its subsidiaries include Prom Mac, a turnkey project management and mechanical services company; New Age, a welding and inspection business; and Kumunyack, an instrumentation and electrical contractor.

The PIC manages assets for the GEPF and backs established businesses across industrial, engineering, and services sectors, partnering with management teams on operational improvement and growth.

What's the endgame? The investment aims to fund CGZAH's expansion across industrial markets by adding capability and skills. Niall Caroll, CG Tech Group chairman, called it "a vote of confidence by Africa's largest fund manager in the CGZAH team."

Why now? The PIC frames the deal around its mandate to deliver long-term returns while supporting South Africa's economic development. Acting chief investment officer August Van Heerden said CGZAH "has demonstrated strong operational capability, a solid track record, and a clear commitment to growth and transformation."

The signal: A state pension manager taking a minority stake in a mid-sized engineering group reflects continued institutional appetite for South African industrial and mining services — sectors tied directly to job creation and domestic infrastructure. Benchmark International, which has handled over $12.5 billion in transaction value, positions the deal as a platform for further consolidation and scale.
