Acumatica buys longtime partner Vertrax to deepen its fuel and energy push

What's the deal? Acumatica, a cloud ERP provider for growing businesses, has acquired VertraxDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a maker of cloud-native software for the fuel and energy distribution industry. The deal, finalised 2 July 2026, brings a team of more than 40 to Acumatica. Terms were not disclosed.

What changes? Vertrax will operate as a business unit under its own brand. Current products, services, customer relationships, pricing, contracts, and projects continue without interruption.

What's the endgame? Vertrax was already a longtime Acumatica partner, with its industry software built on the Acumatica platform. The acquisition folds that expertise in-house, strengthening Acumatica's industry-specific offering for fuel marketers, propane distributors, lubricants businesses, and convenience retailers.

Why now? Vertrax says it is growing rapidly and wants to move faster. "With Acumatica's backing, we can accelerate that momentum," said Vinny MullineauxDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, chief executive officer of Vertrax.

Why it matters: John Case, chief executive officer of Acumatica, called the tie-up "a natural fit," pointing to Vertrax's "exceptional industry-specific IP, built on the Acumatica platform." Buying a partner that already runs on your software is a low-friction way to add vertical depth.

The signal: ERP vendors are increasingly acquiring specialist software makers to win niche industries rather than build the functionality themselves. By absorbing a trusted partner, Acumatica secures a foothold in fuel and energy distribution while keeping the customer base and expertise intact.
