Caprock buys Venturi Private Wealth, adding $4B in assets

What's the deal? CaprockDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Boise-based multi-family office Registered Investment Advisor, has acquired Venturi Private Wealth, an Austin firm managing roughly $4 billion in assets. The transaction brings about 30 employees, including 10 advisors, under the Caprock brand. Terms were not disclosed.

What's the endgame? Founded in 2015, Venturi serves entrepreneurs, executives, and multigenerational families through a fiduciary, planning-oriented approach. Its work has increasingly extended into family governance, wealth education, advanced planning, and CFO services — areas Caprock's family office model aims to deepen.

Why now? Venturi sought a partner as client needs grew more complex. Co-founder and chief executive officer Russ Norwood said Caprock offered "broader investment capabilities, deeper family office resources and the scale to support clients," while preserving the firm's culture and independence.

Market expansion: The deal expands Caprock's footprint in Austin and establishes a new presence in Oklahoma City, one of Venturi's two home markets. Caprock co-chief executive officer Bill Gilbert called both "important growth markets" for the firm.

Once the deal closes, Venturi clients keep their existing advisors while gaining access to Caprock's broader investment menu and national team. Norwood and Joey Sager, who leads the Oklahoma City office, will become managing directors at Caprock.

What could go wrong? Integration risk looms. Co-chief executive officer Greg Brown said the firms "share our belief that serving wealthy families requires a broad family office approach," but merging two cultures under one brand can test client loyalty.

Berkshire Global Advisors advised Venturi, with DLA Piper as legal counsel. Stoel Rives LLP advised Caprock.

The signal: The deal reflects continued consolidation among independent RIAs serving ultra-high-net-worth clients, as smaller fiduciary firms seek scale and expanded services without losing their client-first identity.
