The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, pending regulatory approvals.

What's TIP? Headquartered in Amsterdam, TIP runs a fleet of roughly 90,000 trailers, trucks, and specialised equipment across 130-plus service locations in 17 countries. It serves more than 15,000 customers with leasing, rental, maintenance, digital fleet tools, and used equipment sales.

The financials: Since acquiring TIP in 2018, I Squared says it has more than doubled both revenue and EBITDA. It grew the business through organic investment and 30 acquisitions, expanding the maintenance network and launching digital platform Viamanta.

Why now? The sale lets I Squared bring in fresh capital partners for what it calls "the next phase of growth" while retaining majority control. For IMCO and GCM Grosvenor, TIP fits a strategy centred on stable cash flows and critical infrastructure.

What each side wants. Mohamed El Gazzar, senior partner at I Squared, said TIP "exemplifies I Squared's platform-building investment strategy." IMCO's Matthew Mendes said the business aligns with its focus on "resilient businesses and stable cash flows."

The signal: Infrastructure investors continue to prize essential, asset-heavy transport platforms with predictable returns. I Squared, which manages over $60 billion across more than 100 companies, is cashing in part of an eight-year bet while keeping a stake in the upside.
