Stryten Energy to buy C&D Trojan, expanding to 15 US battery plants

The deal is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
What's the endgame? The combined company will offer lead- and lithium-based energy storage across transportation, essential power, industrial, and military and government markets. It will be led by Stryten chief executive officer and president Mike Judd.
Expanding US manufacturing: After closing, Stryten will run 15 battery manufacturing and component facilities across the US, supported by 3,700 employees. It plans to expand Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) battery capacity to meet demand for hybrid and start-stop vehicles, plus data centre and telecom applications.
Why now? Demand is rising for domestically produced batteries powering AI data centres, grid infrastructure, and Department of War programs. Stryten says the deal strengthens its vertically integrated supply chain and ability to produce at scale.
"This combination brings together two highly complementary organizations with a shared commitment to delivering reliable, high-performance energy storage solutions," Judd said.
Rick Heller, president and CEO of C&D Trojan, said the deal is "broadening our solutions portfolio, and creating a stronger foundation to support customers' evolving energy storage needs."
