Celnor buys Ireland's TelLab to grow environmental testing arm

What's the deal? London-headquartered Celnor Group has acquired TelLabDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an Ireland-based water testing, environmental and fuel analysis firm. Deal terms were not disclosed.

What each side brings: TelLab, founded in 1991 and headquartered in Tullow, serves utilities and transport operators, environmental regulators, local authorities, and multinational life science and technology businesses. It also makes laboratory chemicals, reagents, and standards for analytical, quality assurance, quality control, and research use.

What changes? TelLab joins Celnor's analytical sciences division. Celnor says the move strengthens its environmental testing, laboratory analysis, and innovation capabilities across Ireland and the wider UK and European markets.

What's the endgame? Celnor founder and chief executive Simon Parrington said TelLab's "highly-accredited laboratory capabilities, strong technical team and longstanding customer relationships make it an excellent addition." He added: "We look forward to supporting the business as it continues to expand."

TelLab managing director Mark Bowkett said the deal marks "an exciting new chapter" and would let the firm "accelerate our investment in new laboratory technologies, expand our service capabilities and offer clients an even broader range of compliance and analytical solutions."

The signal: The takeover reflects continued consolidation in the testing and compliance sector, as larger groups add specialist laboratories to widen their service range across regulated markets.
