Who's who? OB Streem is a fully integrated logistics platform operating across major European trade routes, offering cold storage, ambient storage, container yards, and freight forwarding. Med Frigo, founded in 1991, is a leader in Greece's aquaculture export market, moving fresh fish across Europe via its own cold-chain infrastructure and refrigerated fleet.
The rationale: The acquisition expands OB Streem's temperature-controlled transport capabilities and geographic reach. The combined group aims to unlock operational efficiencies, optimise its network, and strengthen customer relationships across key markets.
Why now? The deal follows a major financing agreement OB Streem struck with a consortium of large European banks to fund further expansion.
The new boss: OB Streem appointed Alexandros Karafillides as chief executive officer. He brings more than 25 years of international experience in the consumer goods sector, in roles both in Greece and abroad. "The acquisition of Med Frigo marks an important milestone for OB Streem and its growth journey," he said.
What they said: Stelios Theodosiou, managing director of H.I.G. Realty in Europe, said Med Frigo brings "deep expertise" and a network "that is hard to match." He added that combining it with OB Streem's existing infrastructure "created a unique platform."
The signal: The deal underscores continued consolidation in European cold-chain logistics, as operators scale integrated infrastructure to capture efficiencies. Backed by H.I.G. Capital, which manages $75 billion in assets, OB Streem is positioning itself as a reference logistics player across Southeastern Europe.
