SimpleAI raises $5M seed to buy up accounting firms across Asia-Pacific

What's the deal? Singapore-based SimpleAIDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has raised a $5 million seed round and secured a separate $10 million debt facility to fund acquisitions across the Asia-Pacific region. The three-year-old company builds automation agents for accounting and finance teams. Its total funding now stands at $15 million, following a $500,000 pre-seed.

Why now? The debt facility marks a pivot from organic growth to an acquisition-led strategy. SimpleAI plans to buy established accounting and fund administration firms, then integrate its AI agents from day one.

What's the endgame? The company targets firms with annual revenues between $500,000 and $5 million, focusing first on Singapore and Australia. It already has more than $25 million worth of deals under review and is eyeing a public-market exit, possibly an IPO, within 24 months.

Acquired firms join under a "Partner-and-Operator" model, keeping their clients while gaining SimpleAI's technology and support. The company screens targets on unit economics, cultural fit, and the ability to embed its agents into workflows.

Who's behind it? SimpleAI was founded in 2023 by Roger Tan, Shim Youngjun, and Bryan Sng. "When OpenAIDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → launched ChatGPT in November 2022, we saw that the barrier to processing unstructured data had finally dropped," said Sng, co-founder and chief operating officer.

The new hire: SimpleAI named Otto Von Domingo as chief revenue officer. He brings more than 20 years in private markets and corporate services, and previously grew VistraDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s funds business fivefold over three years across Singapore and the wider Asia-Pacific — experience the company says supports its focus on fund and special purpose vehicle accounting.

How does it work? The deployment reads a firm's existing chart of accounts, ledgers, and processes without requiring upfront changes. A deterministic module handles calculations while the AI agent suggests actions; firms can opt into a "plan mode" where an accountant approves entries before posting.

SimpleAI is deployed across more than 10 markets, supporting over 1,500 entities and 2,000 users. It has also partnered with the Singapore Business Federation and SESAMi to support the Infocomm Media Development Authority's InvoiceNow e-invoicing initiative.

The signal: The $5 million seed sits in the top 5% of legal-sector seed rounds in Singapore, out of 337 comparable deals — a sign of investor appetite for AI-native roll-up plays in professional services.
