Newly formed Helvero buys Swiss healthcare software maker Compass IT

What's the deal? The Lucerne-based Helvero eHealth Group has acquired all shares in Basel's Compass Information Technologie AG (Compass IT), a healthcare software specialist. The takeover, structured as a succession arrangement, takes retroactive effect from 1 July 2026.

Who's involved? Compass IT built the medical practice information system ePaad and the health data platform Secure2Go. Founder Nicolas Schweizer is stepping down, with Helvero co-founder and board member Simon Meier appointed as the new chief executive officer.

Why now? Helvero itself is only weeks old. Leutchter IT Solutions AG founded the group with partners Simon Meier and Jean Luc Zehnder at the end of June 2026 — and Compass IT is its first acquisition.

What's the endgame? Helvero, which focuses on digital products for outpatient healthcare, plans to use Compass IT's products to build an AI-supported operational infrastructure for medical practices across Switzerland.

What's next? Meier said the company will "strategically expand ePaad and Secure2Go," alongside a technological overhaul. AI, he added, "will be used where it offers genuine added value."

The signal: The deal shows a new Swiss entrant betting that AI can modernise the back-office plumbing of doctors' practices — building on an established product base and loyal customers rather than starting from scratch.
