Sweden's Axvik acquires Derby composites maker Pentaxia
What's the deal? Sweden-based Axvik Group has acquired Pentaxia, a Derby-based advanced composites manufacturer serving the defence, aerospace, automotive and motorsport industries. Pentaxia operates from a purpose-built 70,000 sq ft facility. Terms were not disclosed.
Why it matters: Axvik is a group of specialised companies developing critical components and systems for the aerospace and defence industry. Adding Pentaxia strengthens its UK composites capability alongside its existing business, Slingsby Advanced Composites, with both firms set to continue operating under their own brands.
What each side brings: Pentaxia builds advanced composite parts across four end markets, while Axvik brings a broader aerospace and defence portfolio. "Pentaxia complements Slingsby Advanced Composites exceptionally well," said Maung Aye, partner and head of corporate at Mackrell LLP, which advised Axvik on the deal.
The signal: The deal reflects continued consolidation in the composites sector as European groups build scale across defence and aerospace supply chains.
