DEX Imaging buys New England's oldest office dealer to enter Northeast

What's the deal? DEX ImagingDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired New England Copy SpecialistsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → (NECS) for an undisclosed sum, the company announced on July 9, 2026. Founded in 1965, NECS is described as the largest and longest-established privately owned office technology dealer in New England, with four locations around Boston.

What's the endgame? The deal gives DEX its first foothold in the Northeast, a region it had yet to enter. Chief executive officer Dan Doyle Jr. says the acquisition provides a "platform" for that expansion.

What changes? The two companies will jointly offer document imaging technology, managed print services, and managed IT solutions to customers across the region.

Why now? The purchase extends an active run of dealmaking. DEX acquired a Texas office-equipment dealer in April 2026 and several print and managed print services dealers in January 2026.

The signal: The office-equipment sector continues to consolidate as national dealers absorb long-standing regional players to widen their geographic reach and layer on higher-margin IT and managed services. For DEX, buying an established name is a faster route into a new market than building from scratch.
