Domin lands £30M from Legatum to scale fluid power tech
What's the deal? UK motion-control company Domin has raised £30 million (roughly $40 million) in a late-stage round led by LegatumDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a global private investment partnership. It is the largest financing Domin has secured to date.
What does Domin do? The company builds fluid power systems using additive manufacturing, targeting aviation, industrial, and automotive applications. It says its technology delivers higher precision, reliability, and efficiency than existing solutions.
What's the money for? Domin plans to scale manufacturing capacity, expand into new markets, invest in technology development, and grow its team. Founder and chief executive officer Marcus PontDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → said the round "gives us the financial strength to capture that opportunity at scale."
Why Legatum? The firm, which invests its own capital and has four decades of experience, framed the deal as a long-term bet. Philip Vassiliou, partner and chief investment officer, said Domin's technology "is not an incremental improvement on existing systems but a fundamental breakthrough."
The signal: Patient capital is backing deep-tech manufacturing that promises to reshape entrenched industries rather than chase quick returns. For Domin, the challenge now is converting a technology claim into scaled production across three demanding markets at once.
