Onyo merges with Designfunktion, absorbing office-furniture platform Furnable

The combined company will operate under the brand Onyo by Designfunktion, with the merger backdated to January 1, 2026.
What does each side bring? Onyo contributes its digital platform and scalable processes for home-office-as-a-service. Designfunktion, whose subsidiary Furnable offers office furnishings on a flexible rental model, adds brand strength, procurement expertise, and an established sales network.
Why it matters. The partners want to link office and home-office solutions into a single integrated offering for hybrid working, betting that hybrid work is here to stay. "We see great potential in combining our expertise for holistic working environments with the technological and operational strength of Onyo," said Samir Ayoub, managing partner of Designfunktion. Jens Wöhrle, managing partner of Onyo, called the tie-up "the foundation for the next stage" of the company's development.
The signal: The deal reflects consolidation in the market for flexible workplace furnishing, as providers move to serve both ends of the hybrid divide from a single platform.
