3Srobotics raises Series B for AI welding robots

What's the endgame? The company targets welding, a process common to nearly all industrial production but plagued by labour shortages. It has built a proprietary "brain-plus-cerebellum" system: an AI model trained on real production data decides where and how to weld, while a self-developed motion-control system executes the work.
What's the money for? Funds will go toward upgrading the welding AI brain and autonomous motion-control system, expanding its own manufacturing capacity, and growing research and market-service teams to accelerate nationwide rollout across industries.
Why now? Founded in 2020, 3Srobotics says China has roughly 10 million registered welders with an average age above 45, and it projects a shortfall of several million welding engineers. It estimates the smart welding robot market will reach 100 billion yuan over the next decade.
The company says one of its welding robots replaces 1.5 to 2 welders per unit of time, with a payback period of about one to 1.5 years. It sells mainly through channel distributors and integration agents, with direct end-client contracts making up just 10% to 20% of revenue. It targets revenue of several hundred million yuan in 2026.
The signal: Investors framed the deal as a bet on hardware-plus-AI convergence in manufacturing. Jinqiao Fund general manager Ma Wanli pointed to the company's "robot body plus AI plus welding process" combination and its own production factory as a barrier that separates it from pure-software vendors, matching an industry shift from "solution enablement" toward deployed intelligent hardware.
