What's the deal? Woodberry PackagingDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired UK manufacturers Medica PackagingDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and FG Curtis, which trades as Curtis Packaging. Financial terms were not disclosed. Both companies will continue trading under their existing brands and management.

What's the endgame? The move strengthens Woodberry's foothold in Europe, expanding its capabilities in pharmaceutical, healthcare, and personal care packaging. Medica specialises in pharmaceutical and healthcare cartons, while Curtis adds cosmetics and personal care expertise.

By the numbers: The enlarged group employs 650 people across the UK and Ireland and generates combined turnover of more than €120 million ($137 million). Backed by Dublin-based Woodberry CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the company has grown through acquisitions across Ireland and the UK.

Why now? The deal gives the group three PS 9000-accredited carton sites in the UK, meeting the pharmaceutical industry's quality standard, alongside its existing Reelvision site. Its Irish business, Colorman, is working toward the same accreditation.

Woodberry said the enlarged group can act as a single accredited partner for customers while providing the security of supply increasingly required in regulated markets.

Chief executive officer Peter Santo called the deal part of a "clear, long-term strategy of bringing high-quality businesses together and integrating them well to create a stronger whole". He added: "We want to learn from both teams, invest in their businesses, and create opportunities none of us could achieve alone."

Curtis managing director James Williams said joining the wider group provides "the scale and investment to build on that while keeping the service and standards our customers value".

The signal: The acquisition reflects continued consolidation in regulated packaging, where scale and accreditation increasingly determine who can serve pharmaceutical and healthcare clients. Medica itself had acquired FG Curtis in 2022 — a chain of deals building toward a single, larger accredited supplier.
