Platzi buys Microverse's Leap to expand English training for 200,000 students

What's the deal? Online education platform Platzi has acquired Leap, an English conversation-practice app developed by Microverse. Terms were not disclosed.

What's the endgame? Platzi is folding Leap into Platzi English Academy, which has taught more than 200,000 students an A1-to-C1 certified curriculum with a 70% completion rate. Leap adds one-on-one conversation sessions with real people, backed by artificial intelligence feedback.

How does the product work? After each peer session, the platform's AI analyses pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary, then delivers personalised feedback and exercises that measure fluency gains.

Why now? Chief executive officer and co-founder Freddy VegaDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → called English "the silent multiplier" of professional careers in Latin America. "Our students already learn the skills that transform careers; English multiplies each of them," he said.

What's next? Platzi said it is working to make Leap available to the thousands of companies that already use its platform to train their teams.

The signal: The deal positions Platzi in one of the fastest-growing segments of professional learning in the region, pairing peer practice with AI feedback as demand for English skills rises across Latin America.
