Argenta advances acquisition of Brazilian fuel distributor AmericanOil

What's the deal? Argenta, a diversified Brazilian group with businesses in energy, mobility, logistics, retail and services, has advanced its acquisition of AmericanOilDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a fuel distributor registered with Brazil's National Petroleum Agency (ANP) and active in the states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. Brazil's antitrust regulator CADE cleared the operation in a decision published on July 2, 2026. The deal also includes a wholesale reseller (TRR) operation in Santa Catarina. Terms were not disclosed.

What each company does: AmericanOil sells fuel across Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul and runs a network of branded stations. It traces its roots to 1969, when Ari Natal Sgarbossa and Eunice Maria Roveda began operating a fuel station; Rafaeli Sgarbossa founded AmericanOil in 1998, and the second-generation family has run it since. Argenta operates across energy, mobility, logistics, retail and services.

Why now? The purchase fits Argenta's expansion strategy and strengthens its footprint in southern Brazil, with the company pointing to operational overlap, regional presence and the potential to integrate the new business with its existing lines.
