Aptus Court Reporting acquires University Reporters

Try Dealroom →, a Sacramento deposition services firm with more than 30 years serving the local legal community. The San Diego-based litigation support provider announced the deal on July 1, 2026. Terms were not disclosed.
What's the endgame? The acquisition expands Aptus' presence in Sacramento, where it already operates two offices. Aptus provides court reporting, remote depositions, and trial support to legal teams.
What changes for clients? Aptus says University Reporters' clients will keep the service they expect while gaining broader capabilities. "Joining Aptus allows us to provide our clients with expanded capabilities while continuing to deliver the high level of service they expect," said Peggy Porter, owner of University Reporters.
Why now? The deal fits Aptus' growth strategy and its push for nationwide coverage. "Their reputation for impeccable service and strong client and court reporter relationships aligns perfectly with our commitment to delivering exceptional client experiences," said Patrick Conolly, partner at Aptus.
The signal: Court reporting is consolidating as firms scale up to offer national reach and remote deposition technology. Aptus, which now spans offices across California, Missouri, and Washington, is buying regional specialists to widen its footprint one market at a time.
