Duck Creek buys Send to build agentic underwriting platform

What's the deal? Duck Creek Technologies has acquired Send Technology Solutions Ltd, a UK underwriting orchestration engine, uniting the two firms' platforms across the insurance policy lifecycle. Duck Creek said the deal creates the industry's first agentic solution to combine core insurance operations and underwriting workflows. Terms were not disclosed.

Who's involved? Duck Creek serves hundreds of property and casualty (P&C) insurers globally, including more than half of the top 20 global P&C carriers. Send supports commercial, specialty, reinsurance, managed general agents (MGAs), and delegated authority customers, orchestrating more than $26 billion in gross written premium.

Why now? Insurers face disconnected underwriting processes, fragmented submission data, and limited visibility into risk and pricing decisions. Duck Creek argues that improving underwriting performance has become a strategic priority for carriers competing on speed and profitability.

What's the endgame? Combining the two platforms lets insurers connect submission intake, triage, risk assessment, quote decisions, policy issuance, and portfolio monitoring in one operating model. Send has already delivered up to 7x faster time-to-quote and up to a 65% reduction in product launch time.

What led here? The acquisition builds on Duck Creek's Agentic AI Platform, launched at Formation '26, which lets insurers deploy, orchestrate, and govern AI agents across the insurance lifecycle. That platform will embed insurance-native agents, governance, and core system connectivity into Send's underwriting orchestration.

What changes for customers? Send will remain available as a standalone engine that integrates with all core systems, while combined customers gain deeper integration with Duck Creek's Intelligent Insurance Cloud. Send chief executive officer and co-founder Andy MossDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → will lead the team at Duck Creek as general manager of underwriting.

What they're saying: "By bringing Send into Duck Creek, we are combining core insurance operations and underwriting orchestration in a trusted agentic AI experience," said Hardeep Gulati, chief executive officer at Duck Creek.

The signal: The deal reflects how insurance technology vendors are racing to embed AI agents into underwriting, positioning agentic tools as the next battleground for carriers chasing faster decisions and better combined ratios.
