Temasek leads $100M round valuing Pixxel at $400M

What's the deal? Pixxel, an Indian spacetech startup building hyperspectral earth-imaging satellites, has raised $100 million in a late-stage round led by Temasek at a valuation of up to $400 million. Temasek is contributing more than $50 million, with existing backer GIC increasing its commitment.

What's the endgame? Pixxel operates a constellation of hyperspectral satellites used to monitor the environment. The technology captures high-resolution imaging that draws interest from investors and organisations worldwide.

Why now? The round marks a sharp step up from Pixxel's previously disclosed funding of roughly $95 million. It closed US$15.5M Series B extension in late 2024, taking that round to $60 million.

Zoom out: At $100 million, this ranks among the largest late-stage rounds in its sector — above the 90th percentile for such deals across India over the past 48 months. It stands out as a notable financing rather than a routine top-up.

The signal: The deal continues a clear pattern of sovereign wealth funds backing Indian spacetech. Temasek and GIC have both invested in rocket startup Skyroot Aerospace, and their return to Pixxel reflects growing institutional conviction in India's satellite-data and launch ecosystem. If confirmed at this size, the round could set a valuation benchmark for other Indian spacetech startups now lining up sizeable growth rounds.
