Try Dealroom →, a specialty contractor focused on power grid modernization and connectivity across the Southeast US. Financial terms were not disclosed. The deal, announced July 2026, adds scale to UniTek's Power Services Division.

What's the endgame? UniTek, a digital infrastructure provider with more than 600 employees and 60 locations across the US and Canada, wants to expand beyond its core telecom and data-center work into power. It launched a dedicated Power Services Division in July 2025 to offer maintenance, repair, upgrades, and new infrastructure development to the sector.

Concurrent provides infrastructure development and maintenance to electric utilities, telecom providers, and land developers. Its services span overhead and underground power, emergency service restoration, environmental services, and data center development — capabilities that complement UniTek's existing platform. Concurrent will continue to operate under its own brand.

Why now? UniTek is chasing rising demand for resilient, modernized power infrastructure. Buying Concurrent's established regional platform lets it enter the utility market with scale rather than building capabilities from scratch.

"This acquisition accelerates UniTek's Power Services Division, diversifies the Company's service offerings, and meets rising demand for resilient, sustainable infrastructure," chief executive officer Charlie Smith said.

Concurrent chief executive officer Steve Sarno framed the deal as a growth move: "With UniTek's resources and scale behind us, we can deliver even greater value to our clients and accelerate our growth across the Southeast and beyond."

The signal: The deal reflects the convergence of telecom and power infrastructure contractors, as grid-hardening, broadband expansion, and the energy transition drive multi-year capital cycles. It also extends a long-running UniTek acquisition strategy, backed by New Mountain FinanceDealroom has a profile for this one.
