M&A

Hydron buys Zoss Water outright, backed by Rs 20 Cr in growth capital

What's the deal? Functional hydration startup Hydron has acquired 100% of Zoss Water, one of India's early players in alkaline ionised water, funded by a fresh Rs 20 crore growth round. The Bengaluru-based company said the capital will also support scientific research and product expansion.

What do they do? Hydron makes alkaline ionised water systems that use electrolysis to turn purified drinking water into functional hydration without adding chemicals. Its range spans residential units, workplace and institutional dispensers, industrial platforms, and what it claims is India's first alkaline ionised water ATM network.

What's the endgame? Hydron said the deal strengthens its position in the preventive healthcare and functional hydration market. It currently operates across more than 30 cities with over 300 installations, serving homes, workplaces, institutions, and government projects.

The signal: The deal shows capability-driven consolidation reaching beyond the AI megadeals dominating global M&A, as smaller startups buy specialised players to widen product portfolios and market share.
