Nexpublica buys Lyon's Wikit to scale agentic AI across French public sector

What does Wikit bring? Its AI agents are already running in more than 150 local authorities across 30 départements. Common use cases include automating administrative files, detecting fraud on supporting documents, and cutting the time needed to obtain building permits.

What's the endgame? Nexpublica sells vertical SaaS tools for finance, human resources, social action, territory, and civil security, all built on a sovereign cloud and serving more than 14,000 clients. It says the deal complements that base. "Wikit apportera son expertise dans le domaine de l'IA agentique pour les citoyens, les agents publics et les élus," said Martin Hubert, Nexpublica's president.

Why now? This is Nexpublica's second acquisition in under a year. In October 2025, it bought Lanteas, a French editor specialising in citizen portals and CRM for public bodies, known for its Open CRM referenced by Ugap.

The signal: Most French govtech AI deployments remain pilot-scale, making Wikit's live rollout an exception. By pairing its own reach — Nexpublica covers roughly 60% of building permit requests in France — with Wikit's frugal, sovereign AI layer, the group is positioning itself as a platform for agentic AI rather than a traditional editor, aiming to move agents from experiment to industrial-scale use across up to 45,000 administrations.
