What's the deal? Canada Diagnostic CentresDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → (CDC), a NovacapDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → portfolio company, has acquired Shift ImagingDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a medical imaging clinic in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Founded in 2020, Shift offers ultrasound, X-ray, echocardiography, and pain management services across Alberta's Peace Region. Terms were not disclosed.
Why now? The deal marks CDC's fifth acquisition since it partnered with Novacap in 2021, and it fits Canada's broader push to expand diagnostic imaging capacity and cut wait times. Demand for larger, more efficient imaging networks has grown alongside that pressure.
What's the endgame? With Shift added, CDC now runs 50 clinics across four provinces and regions, backed by more than 800 healthcare professionals, including over 100 radiologists. The acquisition establishes CDC's presence in the Peace Region and extends its footprint in Northern Alberta.
What changes for patients? Shift will keep operating from its Grande Prairie location, with continuity of service through integration. Its patients will gain access to a broader range of services, including MRI, CT, and nuclear medicine.
"By joining the CDC network, we will be able to offer our patients access to a broader range of diagnostic imaging services," said Adrian Reagan, medical director of Shift Imaging.
Novacap, founded in 1981, manages over C$16 billion in assets and has invested in more than 250 companies. "This acquisition reflects CDC's continued commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare services in underserved communities," said Marc Paiement, senior partner at Novacap.
The signal: The deal is another step in consolidating fragmented community imaging clinics into larger, private-equity-backed operators. It moves CDC from a provincial player toward a national outpatient imaging platform positioned to benefit from sustained volume growth.
