The combined business is rebranding to CK Lyndex.
What do they do? Together the firms manufacture and supply balers and compactors, providing waste handling and recycling solutions to customers across a range of industries worldwide.
The terms: Ulster Bank refinanced CK International — founded around 1996, with sales of more than £13 million in the year to March 2025 — and supplied a mix of debt and trade finance. The package covered the acquisition and working capital for the enlarged firm.
What's the endgame? CK Lyndex says the deal strengthens its product range, manufacturing capability, and market reach. It is now investing in its next growth stage and recruiting for several new roles.
Why it matters: "Bringing together the strengths of both companies has created a business that is significantly stronger than either could have been independently," said Paul Conlon, chairman of CK Lyndex. He added the acquisition "unlocked opportunities that simply weren't available before."
The signal: The deal fits a steady run of engineering and manufacturing M&A in 2024–25, where mid-sized firms buy long-established, regionally rooted operations to secure skilled labour, customer relationships, and specialist production. Acquiring a century-old physical plant is notable in a sector where many deals target service-led consultancies rather than manufacturing capacity.
