HyperDev raises $1M pre-seed to solve AI coding's 'last mile'
What's the deal? HyperDevDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a generative AI software development platform operating across Europe and South Africa, has raised R16 million ($1 million) in a pre-seed round. Reinsurance Intelligence Quotient and Loom VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → led the deal, announced in July 2026.
What's the endgame? HyperDev targets the "last mile" of software development. Its "Guided Mode" helps users turn code generated by large language models into deployable websites, apps, and software, and lets non-technical users hire developers to refine the output.
Why now? The startup has grown to nearly 100,000 users in under three months. Since Guided Mode launched, HyperDev says it has seen a "near doubling in the retention rate of users."
The founding team drew investor interest. It includes Piotr Sobolewski, a former OpenAIDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → employee who worked on technology behind ChatGPT, and Riaz Moola, formerly at Google. HyperDev is also integrated with the HyperionDev edtech platform, giving users access to technical education.
Falk Albers, managing director at Reinsurance Intelligence Quotient and general partner at Loom Ventures, said the firm backed HyperDev because "they combine genuine AI R&D depth with a built-in distribution channel of millions of developers." He added: "Most vibe coding tools are thin wrappers around third-party LLMs."
What could go wrong? AI app builders face high user churn, per chief marketing officer Kenne Loubser, who called retention "the metric that matters most." The market is also crowded with AI coding assistants competing for the same users.
The signal: A R16 million pre-seed is a modest check, but it stands out in South Africa's thin early-stage pipeline. Africa-wide pre-seed funding totalled just $46.5 million across 281 deals in 2025, making very early capital scarce and concentrated — so fast adoption, not deal size, is what makes this one worth watching.
