How it works: The platform first activates an institution's internal pool of nurses, caregivers, and other staff, then taps a marketplace of professionals who want flexible shifts. A proprietary matching algorithm slots the right person into the right shift.
Why now? Switzerland faces a structural shortage of healthcare workers, and around 300 people leave the sector every month. Building schedules and handling replacements can absorb up to 60% of a manager's time.
What's the endgame? Carewell will use the capital to expand commercially across Switzerland, with a focus on the German-speaking market, invest in its matching technology and mobile app, and grow its engineering, operations, and sales teams.
The platform is already used by more than 50 hospitals, nursing homes, and home-care organisations. Carewell is also the first startup to complete the full FIT Digital track — Grant, Seed, and Growth — from the Fondation pour l'Innovation TechnologiqueDealroom has a profile for this one. In their words: "Swiss healthcare runs on people, and yet building schedules and managing replacements can absorb up to 60% of a manager's time," said Josselin MeylanDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, chief executive officer and co-founder. "This round lets us bring that promise to many more institutions across Switzerland."
The signal: At CHF 1.5 million, this is a mainstream early-stage deal — its raise sits in the 56th percentile by amount. What stands out is the niche: capital is following operational pain points in healthcare, backing software that optimises staff pools rather than purely clinical innovation.
