Cashew lands fresh funding to pit human insight against AI content glut

What's the deal? Calgary-based Cashew, an AI-powered market research startup, has raised new funding to support the next phase of its growth. It did not disclose the size of the round or its investors, saying only that the money will expand its product and help clients move from generic AI output to original human insight.

What's the endgame? Co-founded by chief executive officer Addy Graves and chief operating officer Rose Wong, Cashew replaces weeks of traditional research with insights delivered in days. It is going after the $90 billion market research industry, and says it has worked with teams across North America and beyond since 2024.

Why now? Cashew argues that as more companies lean on the same public data, reports, and AI tools, the result is more content but less clarity. Its bet: fresh human data becomes the competitive edge. "Fresh human insight becomes the advantage," the company wrote in its announcement.

What's the backstory? The raise follows a breakout stretch. In 2025, Cashew was named Best Enterprise Company at TechCrunchDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → Disrupt's Startup Battlefield, and it earlier emerged as the top-funded startup at DMZDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s Women Innovation Summit, securing $190,000 from DMZ VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and The Firehood. It also raised $1 million in a pre-seed round in June 2024, led by Metiquity VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →.

What could go wrong? Without disclosed figures or named backers, it is unclear whether the new round marks an early-scale phase or an incremental top-up. Cashew also competes in a crowded field of AI-first insight tools chasing the same customers.

The signal: Investors keep backing vertical AI platforms that pair automation with domain expertise rather than generic models. Cashew's pitch to "double down on human insight" reflects a wider effort to answer skepticism about fully automated research — combining AI speed with human analysis to win over enterprise and SME buyers wary of opaque, AI-only tools.
