What does the company do? Pilot Photonics has developed patented photonic chip technology that uses laser light to generate exceptionally pure wireless signals. Those signals are essential for AI data centres, satellite communications, and 5G and 6G mobile networks.
What's the money for? The funding will support the company's next growth phase, including product qualification, high-volume manufacturing, and team expansion in Ireland and internationally.

He added that the support offers "the platform to move from breakthrough innovation to industrial scale-up."
By the numbers: The award ranks in the top 3% of grant rounds for its industry and country, out of 1,655 comparable deals. The EIC Accelerator provides grants of up to €2.5 million combined with equity investments of between €0.5 million and €10 million.
The signal: The award reflects a wider European push to fund photonics and data centre scaling technologies, and to build regional champions in strategic hardware. Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Peter Burke framed the investment as contributing to "Europe's digital sovereignty and strategic autonomy" in areas such as 6G, satellite systems, and secure communications.
