Oryzon Genomics raises €10M through private placement

What's the deal? Oryzon Genomics has raised €10 million through a private placement aimed at qualified investors.

The company issued 200,000,000 new ordinary shares at €0.05 each, without offering existing shareholders preferential subscription rights.

Why now? Oryzon Genomics plans to channel the proceeds into research and development, working capital, and general corporate needs.

The raise strengthens its balance sheet as it advances a clinical pipeline built on epigenetics — the science of how genes switch on and off.

What could go wrong? Drug development is slow, costly, and uncertain, and €10 million buys limited runway in a sector where trials can stretch for years.

Issuing 200,000,000 new shares also dilutes current holders, who were not given the chance to maintain their stakes.

The signal: Investor appetite remains for biotech firms targeting diseases with significant unmet medical needs.

Oryzon Genomics' bet is that epigenetics can deliver therapies the market is waiting for — and that a leaner raise now keeps it in the game.
