The capital will fuel regional expansion, with Romania — now the company's biggest market — at the centre of the strategy.

A planned Bucharest "Mini-Factory" will enable next-day delivery for orders placed before 16:00, plus same-day delivery in the capital.

Why now? Romania is Mobilfox's fastest-growing market in the region, with local sales up roughly 500% over the four years to 2026.

In the 12 months to June 2026, it processed about 300,000 orders and sold over 480,000 phone cases. The brand claims more than 70% awareness among people aged 15 to 30.

Local revenue neared 30 million lei with an EBITDA margin above 25%. At group level, 84% of revenue now comes from outside Hungary.

What could go wrong? Mobilfox produces in-house at its own facility in Kaposvár, Hungary, rather than outsourcing to Asia — a model that keeps quality and speed high but limits scale.

Replicating Romania's growth across Central and Eastern Europe is unproven. The next phase mixes organic growth with acquisitions of local brands, adding integration risk.

The signal: Portfolion's bet on an early-stage consumer brand rather than a software play underscores how investors increasingly value defensible moats — community trust and in-house European production — that are hard to replicate. With 84% of group revenue already coming from outside Hungary and Romania up roughly 500% over the four years to 2026, Mobilfox is testing whether a D2C accessories model can scale across Central and Eastern Europe.
