Egypt's BrainsMingle raises $400K seed from recruitment group BasharSoft

Founder and chief executive Belal Amin built BrainsMingle on one premise: professionals running mentorships or building audiences must currently stitch together Zoom, Calendly, a payment processor, a community tool, and LinkedIn.
The platform combines live video, booking, payments, and community features in one place — for individual experts and for organisations such as universities, accelerators, and corporates.
Why now? The deal, announced on June 30, is BasharSoft's first investment since it acquired career platform iCareer last year.
It adds BrainsMingle to a portfolio spanning recruitment, career services, and talent placement across the Middle East and North Africa.
"BasharSoft's investment is a powerful validation of that vision," said Amin.
What could go wrong? BrainsMingle is entering a crowded field, competing against LinkedIn, Calendly, Circle, Skool, and an array of video tools.
Whether one integrated platform can displace that bundle — rather than merely supplement it — remains untested.
The company says it has attracted professionals and communities from more than 90 countries, but has not disclosed user numbers, revenue, retention, or how many users are active rather than registered.
The signal: BasharSoft, an early-stage corporate backer, is using a modest cheque to plant a flag in an adjacent category rather than chase financial returns — a pattern of strategic diversification that lets it test video-centric professional networking without straying far from its core recruitment business. With its platforms claiming 9 million users and a stated ambition to reach 50 million by 2030, the group has the distribution to give BrainsMingle a meaningful early audience.
