Reform Technologies names ex-ECB supervisor McCaul as chair after €1M raise

What's the deal? Reform TechnologiesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Belgium-based anti-money-laundering (AML) technology provider, has closed a €1M early-VC round and appointed former European Central Bank Supervisory Board member Elizabeth McCaulDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → as chair of its board. The round was backed by McCaul and three other new board appointees. Reform's flagship product, Reform Digital Twin, builds a digital replica of banks' legacy AML systems, letting institutions simulate, validate, and optimise transaction monitoring before deploying changes into live environments.

Why now? Financial institutions face mounting pressure to sharpen financial-crime controls while wrestling with ageing legacy systems. The €1M round also drew former BNP Paribas CIB chief operating officer Larry Sobin, ex-PwC partner Jeff Lavine, and K2 Integrity chief technology officer Markus Schulz. Sobin becomes vice-chairman, Lavine joins as a non-executive board member, and Schulz will chair the advisory board.

The signal: As an early-stage company, Reform is leaning on angel-style backers — McCaul and her fellow appointees joined the round as individual investors rather than institutional funds. That points to a credibility-first strategy, where the pedigree of supervisory and banking veterans is meant to open doors at the world's biggest banks.
