Reactional Music wins $2.8M European Innovation Council grant
What's the deal? Reactional MusicDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has won a $2.8 million grant from the European Innovation Council to scale its personalized in-game music technology.
The EU body announced the award on June 23, awarded through its EIC Accelerator programme.
Reactional's patented engine lets players personalize in-game soundtracks and lets developers build music that reacts to gameplay in real time, generating notes without altering master recordings.
The EIC has also allocated up to €6.5 million ($7.45 million) in future equity to match incoming capital, taking total potential backing to up to €9 million ($10.3 million).
Why now? The grant funds Reactional's shift to large-scale commercial deployment.
That includes scaling music delivery in games, optimizing software development kits, expanding its rights and royalty infrastructure, and establishing music as a monetization layer in gaming.
The EIC Accelerator pairs a grant of below €2.5 million with equity of between €500,000 and €10 million for startups it deems able to create or disrupt markets. Its 2026 budget across all schemes tops €1.4 billion.
The signal: The grant marks a vote of confidence from the European Innovation Council, a government-backed funder that reserves its blended finance for early-stage startups it deems able to create or disrupt markets. For Reactional, still at the early stage, the backing extends a trajectory that began with corporate and venture money — its 2023 round was led by mobile games publisher AmanotesDealroom has a profile for this one.
