myota raises $4.5M Series A to scale prebiotic fibre supplements
What's the deal? London-based startup myota has raised $4.5M in Series A funding to scale its prebiotic fibre supplements for consumers and the food industry.
The round was led by PeakBridgeDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. It will fund a dedicated B2B sales operation in Europe and the US, scale myota's direct-to-consumer business, and extend its clinical research.
myota makes patented prebiotic fibre blends designed to feed good gut bacteria and work across different microbiomes. The company says its formulas maximise short-chain fatty acid production while minimising the discomfort common with high-fibre products.
Why now? Fibre is challenging protein as the food industry's most in-demand nutrient, with 95% of Brits and Americans deficient in it.
Awareness is rising too, helped by gut health documentaries and the GLP-1 weight-loss wave, which has pushed fibre into the spotlight.
myota's UK direct-to-consumer business tripled in 2025, passing 60,000 customers. It has also partnered with Joe & The JuiceDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and signed distribution deals across the UK, US, and EU.
What could go wrong? The gut health market is crowded, and many rivals market products built on one or two commodity fibres.
myota's bet is that patented science and clinical validation set it apart. "Myota built and patented the science first and then validated the outcomes in clinical trials," said Yoni Glickman, managing partner at PeakBridge.
Translating clinical results into mass-market food and drink at meaningful doses remains a tall order.
The signal: myota's raise underscores how specialist food-tech funds like PeakBridge are betting on clinically validated ingredients rather than commodity supplements, as fibre rides the GLP-1 wave into mainstream food and drink. With its UK direct-to-consumer base tripling to 60,000 customers and distribution now spanning the UK, US, and EU, the early-stage startup is wagering that patented science can carry it from supplement brand to ingredient platform.
