Meros Pharm secures $15M EBRD loan to expand Uzbekistan pharma logistics

The debt finances two new warehouses in Bukhara and Nukus and expands an existing facility in Tashkent.
The funds also cover working capital and the procurement of pharmaceutical products from European suppliers.
Why now? Meros Pharm has been an EBRD client since 2023, and the loan supports its push to optimise nationwide logistics and improve access to medicines.
The company is set to become the country's first pharmaceutical distributor to adopt green certification for its warehouses.
Technical assistance from the Japan-EBRD Cooperation Fund will fund energy-efficiency improvements and a five-year corporate strategy.
The signal: The loan extends the EBRD's pattern of channelling capital into Uzbekistan's private sector, where it has invested almost $6.9 billion (€6 billion) across 210 projects and has remained Central Asia's leading recipient for six straight years. For Meros Pharm, an early-stage distributor backed since 2023, the financing positions it as the country's first pharmaceutical distributor to pursue green warehouse certification.
