MicroFix tackles this from the manufacturing side, studying how the production process itself shapes microbial traits and effectiveness.
At its core is Zyft, Zymofix's solid-state fermentation platform. Unlike liquid systems, it grows microbes on thermally processed agricultural sidestreams that serve as both growth medium and final formulation.
What could go wrong? The project bets that linking manufacturing variables to crop responses will yield reliable products — but that science is unproven.
Over three years, the team will test microbial traits and plant responses under both abiotic and biotic stress, with no guarantee the framework delivers.
