FundsIndia raises Rs 446 million in debut secured NCD placement
What's the deal? FundsIndia, the Bengaluru-based wealth management platform run by Wealth India Financial Services, has closed its first private placement of secured non-convertible debentures (NCDs), raising Rs 446 million ($5.2 million).
The company's Private Wealth vertical led the offer, handling allocation and distribution. Accredited investors and high-net-worth individuals drove most of the demand.
FundsIndia will use the funds to strengthen its technology and platform, and to widen the investment products it offers across its retail, partner, and private wealth businesses.
Why now? Affluent investors are showing more appetite for quality fixed-income products. As market conditions shift, many are turning to structured debt to diversify beyond equities and mutual funds.
"Successfully completing our maiden secured NCD issuance shows the confidence investors place in the FundsIndia platform," said group chief executive officer Akshay Sapru.
The signal: By raising debt for itself through the same structured instruments it sells to clients, FundsIndia is testing demand for a product category that its private wealth arm is betting on, as India's affluent investors increasingly look beyond equities and mutual funds to diversify their portfolios.
