Co-founder and chief executive officer Maxwell Nicholson said the social network for investors raised nearly C$2 million in just two hours. Within a day, the campaign drew C$2.2 million from just over 1,000 investors.

It will use the money to fuel global expansion, including a full UK launch later this year after entering the US market.

Why now? The US has become Blossom's fastest-growing market, adding over 200,000 members in the past 12 months — a 187% jump from the year before.

The platform also added more than 50,000 users from countries including the UK, Australia, and Germany, even though its app does not yet support exchanges or brokerages outside North America.

The campaign has also hit a ceiling: it can no longer accept money from non-accredited investors because it has exceeded the Canadian crowdfunding exemption.

What could go wrong? Demand is outpacing the product. Blossom is drawing users in markets it cannot yet fully serve, leaving a gap between sign-ups and usable features.

The company also leans heavily on repeat crowdfunding rather than traditional venture rounds, a model that can limit how much it raises at once.

The signal: Blossom has built its growth on serial equity crowdfunding rather than traditional venture capital, raising over C$3 million last year through FrontFundr before this C$2.2 million round — a repeat-funding playbook that has fuelled its climb from 250,000 to more than 750,000 members. As an early-stage company now eyeing a full UK launch, the question is whether crowdfunding alone can bankroll global expansion into markets its app cannot yet fully serve.
