Ubotica raises $11M Series A to scale real-time maritime intelligence from space
What's the deal? Irish space technology company Ubotica Technologies has raised $11 million in a Series A round to scale its AI-powered Live Maritime Intelligence (LMI) platform.

LMI uses Ubotica's Orbital AI to detect maritime threats in real time and improve surveillance of critical infrastructure such as undersea cables, offshore energy assets, and shipping routes.
Why now? Governments face mounting pressure to protect maritime infrastructure from increasingly complex threats, including shadow fleets, dark vessels, sanctions evasion, and potential sabotage.
That demand is driving the need for faster, smarter surveillance across vast stretches of ocean.
Unlike conventional Earth observation systems, which beam imagery back to Earth for processing, Ubotica runs AI analysis directly in orbit. By moving intelligence closer to the data, it cuts response times and uses satellite networks more efficiently.
The platform continuously flags high-risk areas, then autonomously directs satellite sensors toward emerging activity — delivering actionable intelligence within minutes, according to chief executive officer Fintan Buckley.
The signal: Now at breakout stage, Ubotica is building on its "Cognitive Earth Observation" roots to push AI processing onto satellites themselves — part of a broader shift toward edge computing in space, where analysis happens in orbit rather than on the ground. With Act Venture Capital and Greencode Ventures leading the round alongside returning backer Atlantic Bridge, the company is betting that mounting geopolitical pressure on maritime infrastructure will turn real-time orbital intelligence into a commercial necessity.
